PREMISE
Diagnosed positional memorization in protein fitness predictors using ProteinGym's CV schemes (Random, Modulo, Contiguous). Built a structural feature extraction pipeline (PDB + DSSP); per-residue ESM-2 embeddings improved Spearman rho by up to +0.158 on positional-extrapolation splits vs. mean-pool baseline.
